Nyack College, often abbreviated Nyack, is a private, liberal arts, coeducational, Christian and Missionary Alliance educational institution, founded in 1882 by Dr. Albert B. Simpson, recognized as one of the foremost figures in the American missionary movement. In 1953, the college was authorized to confer the Bachelor of Science degree and, in 1961, the Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1960, it was authorized to conduct a post-baccalaureate program as the forerunner of Alliance Theological Seminary. Today, Nyack College offers a wide range of educational programs for its students, the most popular majors including Sacred Music, Divinity, Professional Studies and Business Administration.
The location of Nyack College campus is in Rockland County, New York, comprising 102 acres.
Nyack College's athletic team are called The Warriors, which compete in Division II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), in several sports, for both men and women. In 2008, the Lady Warrior Cross Country team finished on the 8th place at the highly competitive Golden Knights XC Joust at the College of St. Ros, while the Men Warrior Cross Country team finished on the 12th place. The official colors of the Warriors are grey and crimson and their mascot is the Warrior.
